Pikes Peak or Bust Afterhours

This week we explore a bit of how to add arched text to a design and making use of multiple BX fonts.  To create a “distressed patch” to glue on to a hat for a friend, we use the knockdown of Enthusiast and change the object to an outline stitch like a bean or a backstitch.

Click here to download the zipped file of the mountain.  It is in the BE file format so you can open it into Embrilliance platform to customize.  If you have StitchArtist, all the objects are revealed so that you can check out the digitizing.

The replay of the broadcast is available on my SewBubbles page.  Be sure to like and follow my page to be notified of future broadcasts.

Hi Lisa! I have become such a fan of yours since I signed up for Essentials a couple of months ago. I just added Enthusiast today and hope to be adding stitch artist before long. I am an artist who also happens to sew. I bought a new embroidery/sewing machine a couple of months ago….and O.M.G. I am having a ball!!! But I am already getting a little frustrated with hoop size limitations with what I have. BUT, I understand that I can split large designs to fit within my hoop. Well, I have been searching for a tutorial and have not found one. Maybe you could do one…on how to split a design into a few hooping to make it all match up and come out perfectly. I currently bought a beautiful purse design from SweatPea that is done in the hoop but I don’t know how I can make the large one work and split the patchwork appliqué so that I don’t ruin it. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I teach a class on rehooping which is the first thing you need to master for regular embroidery designs. Rehooping in the hoop projects would not be something I would attempt unless you had a full grasp of as you say “matching up and come out perfectly” rehooping of regular embroidery designs. Once you can master that, you will have all the tools needed to do more advanced rehooping and already know what you need to do – baby steps!
