The 8th day of my 31 Day Blog Challenge
I’m actually rather impressed that I have not missed a single day yet. Maybe it’s because I have been watching many of my friends continue with their blog posts and I don’t want to be left behind 🙂
If you are interested in other sewing related sites that are taking part in this challenge, please visit the blog post that started it all! At the bottom of this page you will find all of the participants in the challenge. I’ve been visiting at least one a day – funny how I seem to have more time now that I’ve committed and planned this whole blogging routine. Today I went to Laurette Crites blog and of course had to sign up for her free mini quilt pattern! How could I not with such a cute sample that is a quick and easy project!
This is my kind of quilting project – simple enough so that the “extras” have a place to shine. What I mean by “extras” is the coloring embellishment, or decorative stitching or even the border fabric or background quilting. Those that know me, know that I love to sew in order to create a canvas for embroidery. A quilt project like this is right up that alley.
The border fabric could be an embroidered border design or maybe even a custom all over fabric embroidery design that coordinates with the coloring of the main center piece. Or how about this becoming part of an in the hoop quilting block. With projects like this, there are so many opportunities for making it unique to you.
So, have fun today. Play in your software or at your machine or just go hang out and admire your fabric stash – don’t give me that look…I know I’m not the only one who does that 🙂
Thanks Lisa! I appreciate what you said about the Free Mini Quilts I create for my subscribers. I just posted a blog on using this months mini quilt to make Gift Card Holder Ornaments. Check it out http://blog.laurettacrites.com/happy-holidays-2/
